Letter from the Superintendent of Schools regarding the FSA

posted Jan 23, 2012 9:18 AM by Dexter Horton
The Ministry of Education requires that school districts throughout BC administer the Foundation Skills Assessment (FSA) to students in Grades 4 and 7 each year. The assessment measures student competency in the areas of Reading, Writing and Numeracy (Math). In the Abbotsford School District the tests are scheduled to be completed between January 16th and February 24th. Each test has an online as well as a paper and pencil component. The tree tests take about 90 minutes each to complete.

Schools and Districts use the results of this assessment to monitor the effectiveness of their programs and to make decisions about how and where to allocate resources. The individual results are also shared with parents to inform them of their child's progress.
