Sturgeon Fishing Field Trip During the second week of April, our Aboriginal students have the opportunity to experience sturgeon fishing with a Sto:lo elder. The all day trip will be provisioned through the Harrison based BC Sportfishing Group. It is a professional fishing organization that will provide the boats, a guide for each boat, as well as hands on conservation education. An Aboriginal elder will also be on each boat to share their Sto:lo cultural knowledge pertaining to the Fraser River, and sturgeon fishing. All costs will be covered by the Aboriginal program. BC Sportfishing Group is committed to the environment and creating a sustainable fishing industry. For BCSFG this commitment is key as our product is the environment. Accordingly, BCSFG has developed a strategy of focusing on sustainability and environmental awareness. The company plays a leading role in Sturgeon and Salmon conservation initiatives. Guides help to educate Anglers on the importance of environmental awareness. BC Sportfishing group is a member of the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society. Besides tagging more Sturgeon than any other Guiding company in the Fraser Valley BCSFG works closely with Society and it's chairman Rick Hansen in conducting ongoing research into the overall health of Sturgeon stocks.
